Tonle Sap River Cruise
Day 1: Phnom Penh- Koh Chen / Oudong-Kampong Tralach
Toum Teav opens for embarking at 7:45am followed by security briefing. Morning: Depart for Koh Chen (Chinese island). Upon arriving Koh Chen, find out more about this small and copper smiting. They make ornamental fruits, such as delicately engraved tropical pagodas or for weddings. The distant hills of Cambodia?s old capital, Oudong, and its royal stapes can be seen a few kilometers away from the ferry. Catch sight of the ruins of Anthareu temple. Passengers re-embark the Toum Teav for Lunch on board on the way to Kampong Tralach. Upon arriving Kampong Tralach: Visit its wonderful Vihara belonging to WatKampong Tralac Lea Pagoda. Appreciate more of nature?s glory at the Kampong Tralach Krom village, along a small road perpendicular to the river, crossing some gorgeous stretches of emerald rice paddy. The Vihara is home to some outstanding mural paintings. They remain one of the last survivors of cultural destruction that continues unabated due to widespread indifference. Standing by itself in the midst of rice fields, it is modest pagoda that receives very few visitors/ Passengers re-embark late afternoon. The Toum Teav drops anchor a few miles away. Welcome drinks and dinner are serviced. Overnight on-board.
Day 2: Kampong Chhnang - Kampong Luong
Morning: Sail to Kampong Channag . Breakfast is served during navigation. Kampong Chnang is one of the largest fishing ports on the Tonle Sap. Fish farming is also widely practiced in the areas. The is famous for it pottery ware . unchanged in style for centuries. Not to be overlooked are the products of the Thnot Tree (Sugar palm tree a real national symbol) that abounds in the area: a mellow tasting . caramei-colored sugar sold in large cakes and palm wine . Passengers re-embark the Toum Teav for lunch on-board on the way to Kampong Luong. Upon arriving Kampong Luong: Local boats are used to pick-up passengers for the visit . Almost totally overlooked by tourists because of its remoteness, the village is completely self sufficient with its floating school ice making factories for fish preservation, church, pagoda, service station , stores, boat, television repair shops, video and Karaoke clubs, police station... everything is on the water. Passengers re-embark late afternoon. The Toum Teav stays overnight under the protection of the flooded forest. Farewell cocktail (1glass of the local liquor or juice ) with Master of Ship & Cruise Manager, and Captain's farewell dinner (rich menu + 1 glass of wine ) are served on board. Overnight on board.
Day 3: Kampong Loung- Siem Reap
Depart early in the morning. Time for pack and relax half the day white crossing the Tonle Sap Lake. Passengers disembark at 1:00pm., local tour agent to pick-up passengers and transfer to the hotel after the final lunch on board.
